Brenda Edgar Presents

Custom Gallery Talks & Art History Programs

Lively, intelligent art history programming for galleries, art spaces, museums, libraries, private groups, and cultural organizations

Brenda Edgar creates custom art history programs that help audiences look longer, think more deeply, and connect more personally with works of art. These programs are designed to be smart, accessible, memorable, and responsive to the art and the people in the room.

Programs can be created as standalone features, or tailored to complement an exhibition, gathering, reception, or special event. They are customized to your venue, audience, theme and budget; they can take the form of gallery talks, slide lectures, artist conversations, or guided looking sessions. Rates available upon request; please inquire.

Recent Custom Programming Experience

Gallery talk at WheelHouse Art, Louisville (2025)

 • “An Iconographic Meditation on the Bald Eagle, inspired by Sabra Crockett’s ‘Emperor’” was a custom gallery talk for an event featuring an exhibition of Crockett’s paintings, also serving as a fundraiser for the Audubon Society

Art History Illustrated at the Carnegie Cultural Arts Center, New Albany:

Since 2019, AHI has featured custom programs developed in response to current exhibitions, seasonal themes, and community programming needs, including:

• “Small Wonders: A History of Ancient Figurines” was created to support an exhibition of small-format works

• “Welcome to the Present: Contemporary Art that Moves” complemented an exhibition of kinetic art

• “Beauty and Blight: Paintings of Industrial Landscapes” provided context for an exhibition of early industrial photographs

• “The Art History of Kehinde Wiley” in honor of Black History Month

• “The Iconography of Motherhood” in honor of Women’s History Month

Recent Praise

“What a great night! Brenda, your analysis of my Emperor painting was spot on. I’m just chuffed about this whole night.”

--Sabra Crockett, artist of the painting Emperor (featured above)

"That was such a cool event (I personally learned so much, between a new Q&A with Daniel and Sabra and Brenda's amazing talk)!"

--Mary Beth Nevulus, VP of the Board, Louisville Audubon Society, co-speaker at the event, which doubled as a fundraiser for LAS

"Thank you for a wonderful evening!"

--Dan Pfalzgraf, owner, Wheelhouse Art Gallery
